Janet Drew Greenfield

Tribute
Janet Drew Greenfield passed away at home on Monday, June 6th, 2011 after her battle with cancer and with her family by her side. Janet was born January 23rd, `948 in Vanderhoof, BC to Charles and Lillian Carnell.
Anyone who knew Jan knows of her love of the natural world. she loved gardening and spending time outdoors and always made time to “stop and smell the flowers”. Jan has always been a natural teacher throughout her life: to her children, to her friends and colleagues and to her grandchildren and other children that crossed her path.
With her children grown, Jan began a careet in counselling earning a masters degree in Social Work from the University of Victoria and providing counselling services throughout the East kootenays until she retired in 2003.
Since retirement Jan has led an active life spending the summers in the East Kootenays and travelling with Russ in the winters. She was incredibly grateful to spend the past winter in Australia with Russ and her daughter Jenifer.
In passing Jen is survived by her loving husband Russell, daughter Jenifer, son Jay and his wife Karen and her grandchildren Brendan and Kenna. She is also survived by her 100 year old mother Lillian and brother James. Jan was predeceased by her father Charles and sister Judy.
Jan was active in the Yoga community. Her spirituality was honouring the divine light within herself and others. This is what shone through.
A Celebration of Jan”s life will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, June 12th at Idlewild Park near the amphitheatre entrance. If you wish to participate in a ceremony celebrating her life, please bring a single rose – Jan”s symbol for love.

In lieu of flowers Jan has requested that donations be made to the Yasodhara Ashram, c/o Lotus Books, 33 – 10th Ave. S., Cranbrook, BC V1C 2M9
