Zena Lorraine Hamilton (Van Oene)
August 1, 1927 - April 26, 2019
Tribute
On the afternoon of Friday, April 26, 2019, Zena Lorraine Hamilton passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital at the age of 91 years. Zena was born on August 1, 1927 in Carnduff, Saskatchewan, one of six children born to Emily and William Van Oene.
Zena was a very hard working lady. She was the first woman in British Columbia to hold a chauffer’s license. With her license, she delivered milk in Kimberley and worked at the local dairy. Zena worked there until she met and married Frank Hamilton on March 18, 1951. They were blessed with five children. Zena was a very family oriented person and loved to be with them. Zena took great pride in her garden when she lived in her home and loved to tend to it. She was always a loving mom, grandma, great grandma and friend to all of us. We will miss her and her kind ways.
Left to mourn her passing are her children; Lorraine (Duncan) Campbell, Chris and Kim, Isaac, Benson and Cole; Denise and Calvin, Jackson and Danica; Kathy (Iver) Fredrikson; Deb (Garry) McKay, Trevor (Tammy), Jen, Desirie and Brody; Trent (Kricket), Hudson, Keltie, Taylor and Easton, Troy (Shannon), Allison and Miley, Trina, Carter, Melodie and Harmonie; Tristan (Michelle), Jackson and William, Cliff (Cindy) Hamilton, Krystal and Jocelyn and Ken (Sue) Hamilton; Kelsie, Ryker; Toby and Sam. She also leaves behind her sister Ellen and brother Bill.
At Zena’s request, there will be no funeral service. Condolences may be left for the family at www.markmemorial.com
