Thomas ("Ed") Edgar McClinchey

Tribute

Thomas Edgar (Ed) McClinchey of Cranbrook passed away suddenly on Monday, June 12, 2023 at the age of 85 years.  Ed was born in northern Ontario in Val Gagne and grew up with eight siblings on a farm.  Ed married Marilyn on August 20, 1960.  Following the birth of two sons, Ed and his young family moved out west in 1966, first to the Coast and then to the Elk Valley and area.  Ed spent most of his working life in the mining industry as a miner and as a welder and retired to Cranbrook.  Ed was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and many other areas of service.

Ed was predeceased by his father, Thomas Elmer McClinchey, mother Hermine and brothers, Perry, Jim, Jack and Wade.  Ed is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marilyn, his siblings: Bert, Maisie, Bob (Rose) and Eric, his children:  Randy (Dixie), Barry, Audra (Garry) and Melissa (Brett).  Ed also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Maddie, Ryley, Hayley, Kenzie, Sianna, Sarah, Aurora, Lauren and Alex as well as two great grandchildren; Avarie and Jax.

A Funeral Mass for Ed will take place on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 11:00 am at Christ the Servant Catholic Church, 1100 14th Ave. S., Cranbrook and will be followed by the interment at Westlawn Cemetery.  Donations in Ed’s memory can be made to Parkinson’s Canada or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
