Michelle Comeau
June 26, 1976 - July 22, 2023
Tribute
On Saturday, July 22, 2023, Michelle Comeau passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in Cranbrook at the age of 47 years. Michelle was born in Terrace, BC on June 26, 1976, one of two daughters born to Ada and Roger Comeau.
Michelle grew up in various towns across BC eventually settling in the small town of Sparwood. It was here that her talents bloomed artistically from singing, writing and a tremendous love of people. From Sparwood, Michelle moved to Creston and worked very hard at the age of 14 in all the orchards and asparagus fields. While in Creston, she earned the title of Youth Leader at the tender age of 14. To all her peers she emanated leadership, admiration and honor. Michelle graduated from Mount Baker Secondary School on the Honor Roll. She won scholarships and bursaries for her good grades there. Later Michelle moved on to Lethbridge to attend Bible School.
Besides all of Michelle’s artistic talents, she was an amazing sous-chef. Her father’s knowledge took her a long way with his words of how to and guidance in the kitchen. All this guidance came through a mere phone call – and Michelle would remember it all (and no cell phones I those days – she had to remember!!) Michelle worked at many fine dining restaurants and her many talents eventually took her into horticultural work too.
Michelle raised her four beautiful children, working hard to provide for them. Her children are blessed as they have been bestowed with Michelle’s love, talent of Art, basketball, strength, endurance and laughter. Michelle loved hard and always gave of herself – especially those hurting. She never looked down on anyone or judged them rather she gave a helping hand to get them back up on their feet again.
Michelle leaves behind to miss her, her beloved children; her sons Micheal and her 2 year old grandson Kegan, Keoni and Theodore and one daughter Malia as well as her mother, Ada Sargeant and her sister Lisa (Rob) Faust. Michelle was predeceased by her husband, Darcy Stratton in 2023 and by her father Roger Comeau in 2010.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Michelle on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Ron Short officiating.
