David Lee Bjarnason
June 4, 1952 - February 1, 2022
Tribute
David Lee Bjarnason, 69, beloved brother and uncle passed away quietly at his home in Kimberley, BC. He will be greatly missed by his brothers Rick (Leona) Bjarnason, Edmonton, Ron Bjarnason, Valley Center, California and sister Val (Gerry) Morgan, Regina, SK and his niece and nephews, Kelly Wry, Jeff Morgan, Jared and Brendon Bjarnason.
Dave spent the greater part of his life in Edmonton after leaving home to conquer the world. He was a professional drummer in the explosive, energized 70s, 80s and into the 90s. He toured the world with the like of KD Lang, Amos Garrett and a host of other talented and creative musicians. He was well loved and respected by his peers throughout his long career.
Dave lived to the beat of his own drum! He spent the later years of his life living in the countryside west of Edmonton until he decided to finish his last years in the mountains of Kimberley, BC. His days were spent enjoying his morning coffee, going for long walks, studying the ultra complex ways of the world and shunning the well worn path of mainstream media.
An artistic, eclectic character until the end, he lived his life honestly and humbly.
You will be missed and celebrated dear brother.

From Tokyo to Berlin, and all points in between, my life was enriched by the presence of Dave “Barney” Bjarnason”, sitting behind and to my right, helping drive the bus for over ten years with the “Eh! Team”. We spent countless hours and thousands of miles travelling together in assorted ‘beaters’, sharing hotel rooms and hostels in Canada, Europe, and Japan, discussing philosophy, spirituality, and innumerable other topics (all of them fascinating to me). Ironically, while being musicians, we never had a vehicle with anything close to an adequate sound system, so we had to fill the time somehow. I have never had any conversations more engaging than the ones we shared. You will be sorely missed Brother. Good-bye for now, we’ll get together again on the flip side. Today’s gratitude shot brought to you by lifelong love and respect.

I knew Dave from the meditation centre back in the day. He was a bright light, with a warm and engaging personality. We also shared a connection in that we both had spent time as kids at Crystal Lake, Saskatchewan.
Onward and upward dear Dave.
