Marlene Dolores Bjorkman (Rivet)

April 18, 1936 - December 8, 2020

Tribute

On Tuesday morning, December 8, 2020  Dolores Bjorkman passed away at Joseph Creek Care Village at the age of 84 years.  Marlene was born on April 18, 1936 in Kimberley, one of three girls born to Alfred and Edith Rivet.

Mom was a compassionate and loving person who loved nothing more than to see people laugh and enjoy life.  Anyone who knew her has a story or two about her many escapades.  She especially enjoyed and was always a presence for her family and friends.  Her grand and great grandchildren had a big piece of her heart.  She loved dressing up for many lunches, bake sales, teas and Red Hat gatherings with her wonderful friends.

Marlene is survived by her daughter, Vicki  (Brad) Poburn of Cranbrook; son Bart (Allison) Bjorkman of Creston; four grandchildren, Terra- Lee (Ron) Meijer of Cranbrook, Clayton (Marie) Poburn of Morinville, Alberta,  Jamie Bjorkman of Vancouver, Kelsey Bjorkman of Saskatchewan as well as four great grandchildren; Travis and Isaac Meijer; Austin and Jade Poburn.  She also leaves her sister Gerry (Mario) Rocca of Fernie and sister-in-law Kathy Bjorkman of Canal Flats.

Marlene was predeceased by her husband, Elmer Bjorkman, mother Edith Fenske, sister Carol Abbey and sisters-in-law, Miriam Stapleton, Martha Rotvold, Ruth White and brothers-in-law Einar, Ralph, Walter, and Ellard Bjorkman.  Mom also leaves behind her best friend and partner in crime, Maureen Campsall who was such an amazing friend and help to mom.  Dr. Rolandi was her hero and was the most incredible, compassionate and understanding Doctor.  He was always there for her and we are forever grateful.  Thank you Dr. Rolandi.

There will be no service due to Covid.  Those wishing to remember Marlene may do so with donations to the Salvation Army.
