James Wayne Ban Quan
February 1, 1945 - February 5, 2019
Tribute
James Wayne Ban Quan passed away peacefully in the East Kootenay Regional Hospital at the age of 74. Jim was born in the St. Eugene Hospital on Feburary 1, 1945 to Joseph (Joe) and Byrle Ban Quan. He was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Jim was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for many years. He was very passionate about his affiliation with all his commitments over the years. He enjoyed camping and, hand gun shooting for competition. Then came the age of computers and he learned everything he could about them, working with many programs. Another of his passions was photography and this led to many interesting photos and the use of PhotoShop or some similar program.
Jim is survived by his wife, Raylene Bayley and four sons; Wayne, John (Sheri), James (Oggy)(Jennifer) and Benjamin (Benji) as well as five grandchildren he was very proud of. Jim also leaves his brother Brian (Dooze).
There will be no funeral service at this time. Those wishing to remember Jim may do so with donations to the Liver Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. Jim will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends.

Raylene & family – our thoughts are with you. When I remember Jim, I think of his intelligence that I so respected (but would never admit to him), his stories of growing up in Cranbrook, working with him at Woodland Equip. & Terratech; and the “special Chinese dishes” he made for me when he cooked at the Eagles’ Chinese dinners. RIP, Jim.

Jim was always a smiling face and helping hand regardless if it was the Eagles or the Legion as he supported both organizations. Our sincere condolences to the entire family. RIP Jim.

I am so sorry for your loss. He was such a special friend to my mom and dad, and when dad had dementia he was kind and welcomed him at the Nest with a beer like old times. A great Eagle member

Relation: Possibly am a common ancestor
Hello my name is Averie Lum. I am doing a research paper on my family history and i came across the name Ban Quan. I was not entirely sure if he is one of my past ancestors but the name had come up during my research and there was not a lot to say about him being related to the Lum family. Thank you for taking the time to read this email whoever does. I would also like to send my condolences to your family and just say that i am very sorry for your loss.
