William Donald (Don) Miskovich

William Donald Miskovich peacefully passed away at home with the love and presence of his family surrounding him on Tuesday, September 6, 2011. Don was born in Fernie, BC on October 31, 1935 to Bill and Nelly Miskovich. Don is the last surviving member of his family.
Don was born and raised in Fernie, BC. He received his education up to Grade 7 in Fernie and at 15 years of age, he moved to Campbell River, BC to be near his sister, Susan. In Campbell River, Don worked at a butcher shop making sausage for the freight ships. Don had many working adventures that took him all across Canada but he finished his career in Calgary where he was an owner/operator as a sub-contractor to Fish Creek and Blue Ridge Excavation Co. After 35 years in Calgary, he and Pauline retired to Rosen Lake, BC in 1989. Here he built their home from the ground up. Although he said he was retired, Don continued to help neighbours with whatever projects or tasks needed to be done. He was well respected for his knowledge and expertise with his many talents and he was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Pauline and their two sons; Dale and Darrell (Joni) as well as his daughter-in-law, Karen Brown and granddaughters; Melissa and Selina. He also leaves his sister-in-law Jess Miskovich and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn his passing. He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Nelly; one brother Henry and three sisters, Dora Miskovich who passed away at 9 years of age, Susan Bolton, Phyllis Danielson and brother-in-law, Ed Danielson.
A Celebration of Don”s Life will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Don and Pauline”s home at 2:00 pm. A private family graveside service will be held. In friends desire memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 19 – 9th Ave. S., Cranbrook, BC V1C 2L9 or the Cranbrook Food Bank. 104 – 8th Ave. S., Cranbrook, BC V1C 2K5.

I am so sorry to here of your father/husband passing. One is never prepared when this happens. They say time will heal, but some times Time cannot pass quick enough. I know of your grief. You have alot of friends and we all share in your tears & sorrow. Don was a great guy. I am very fortunate to have friends like you two and we had alot of fun together, years ago now, I guess. Your mother & father are so kind, thoughtful, generous and always helping others out . Your dad will be sadly missed. I’m sure your dad was very proud of you two. Please take care of yourself in this time of sorrow. Thinking of you.
